At the end of spring we expected the warm weather and a jazz band from England. Both arrived!
The Harrodian School Jazz Band is a band with 18 member. Young ladies and gentlemen gave their best, when they are on the stage to get the audience in rhythm.
Our first task was to cooperate with the music instrument company about hiring electric bass and electric guitar amp to the jazz band. Our biggest challenge was to hire a baritone saxophone, which is an unicum in the world of the saxophones. On their two concerts the soloist played on a baritone sax from the Hungarian smooth jazz artist, Zolbert who borrowed his own instrument to the young artist and listened the concert too. It was really touching when a big artist meet a young one!
Their second venue was an authentic jazz stage in the downtown of Budapest, the Budapest Jazz Club. A cozy bar with small round tables, where the audience drink his or her cocktail when they listen to the jazz melodies. It was a full house, there were people, who didn’t have a seat at all, as all of the seats were reserved. The technical staff served maximally the band.
The group has colorful sightseeing tours in the mornings with our brilliant guide. They had great meals organized by us, a lovely river cruise excursion, they saw the castle and enjoyed the waking up spring at the Margaret Island.
We enjoyed this tour very much, and you can see they, too:
„What a fab venue, we felt very lucky to be playing in Budapest Jazz Club! Everybody who worked there was so welcoming and helpful. We had a nice green room to store bags and cases in, the stage area was lovely and the sound technician was great. We had a full audience who were very appreciative. I would HIGHLY recommend this venue to other groups”
„Delicious food. Best meal we had in Budapest!!”
